Chief announcer and special events director of KFBK, Tony Koester was well known on the Pacific Coast as a brilliant narrator of baseball. Koester began announcing baseball in Sacramento in 1938.

In 1947, he broadcast the Solon home games, as usual, and also recreated Sacramento contests while the team was on the road.
